The “I will never marry again (?)” crowd. Diane Kruger + Olivia Wilde

The two celebrity examples that first popped in my head when thinking about this topic was Diane Kruger, who has publicly stated in the past that she had no desire to get married again after divorcing at a young age and has just recently ended a LTR with actor Joshua Jackson; and Olivia Wilde who also married young (before the Saturn Return, both of them.)  While she is currently engaged and raising a child with her partner Jason Sudekis, she has not chosen to make it down the aisle again (yet).

Diane Kruger has Uranus square Venus in her natal chart.  When she made that statement about not wanting to marry again, and seeing what publicly looked like a pretty solid relationship with Joshua Jackson, I was immediately curious what her Venus aspects looked like and raced to look up her chart.  And THERE was that Uranus-Venus contact, showing what she had already stated with conviction – this woman likes her freedom and is not looking to lose it in a formalized relationship again.  She always appeared to me to be fiercely independent and charismatic, and since we share this energy (hers in a hard aspect and mine in a soft aspect) I always found her position on this matter relateble.  I also understood that the relationship she was in probably had its fair share of on/off energy, lots of separations (they are actors, comes with the territory) and would likely require a lot of patience on Josh’s end to withstand the erratic love nature.

(Unless of course, he shares the same Uranus-Venus contact natally…  I checked.  He does not. )

In fact Joshua's Venus in Cancer is unaspected natally.  So all of Diane’s Cancer placements touch him profoundly.  She was/is his ideal and he had to accept her somewhat distant/detached affectional style (Uranus-Venus) in order to enjoy the benefits of her Cancerian nature.  She also possesses a Saturn-Venus conjunction, which has definitely kept that strong Uranus-Venus energy in check enough to allow for the long, committed relationship she has been in.

As for Olivia Wilde things are far simpler – she has Venus in Aquarius!  This is straight up unadulterated Uranian energy and it would take some very strong Saturn contacts to her Venus to make her want to hitch herself to another in a binding way.  The first marriage or long committed relationship for Venus-Uranus types are like finishing school – its where they learn exactly how they want to conduct themselves in the world and usually being tied to someone else exclusively is not part of the equation.

As if to further exemplify her Uranian Venus, Olivia has admitted (like fellow Uranian-Venus Miley Cyrus) to having intimate interactions with women in the past.  This is not energy that will just dissipate with time or is a youthful dalliance;  this sort of romantic openness is essential to the Venus-Uranus makeup.  It should be explored in healthy, fun, and safe ways and truly brings happiness to the chart holders.  But it, along with the need for personal freedom and variety in the relationship sphere can make marriage downright claustrophobic. Strong Saturn and maybe Pluto contacts natally and/or in synastry need to be present to support a lasting, formal commitment. Its either that, or be prepared to give each other plenty of space and freedom to roam.
