Optimal Timing and Planning with the Moon

If I could offer one tip to help anyone make calm out of chaos in their daily lives it would be to check the astrological sign the Moon is transiting on a daily basis.  It will help you identify and plan for the area of your life that will take center stage during the 1-2 period the Moon is in each sign.

You will first have to know the position of your Ascendant/ First House and from this you can determine which House the Moon is currently transiting in your personal chart.

Example: Sagittarius Ascendant/ Rising + Moon currently in Gemini = Moon transiting the 11th House

From there we will look at the nature of that particular house and what activities it lends itself to, which the Moon will emphasize and aid during its transit.

Moon transiting the First House: The Moon here on your Ascendant and through your First House can make you emotionally reactive or appear that way to others.  You could find yourself moodier than usual, or have ups and downs and feel the urge to express those emotions during these days.  For women, and some men, the Moon going over your Ascendant can lead to water retention/bloating/edenma, as the Moon affects our internal fluids much like it does the oceans.

This will only last for a few days until the Moon transits into the 2nd House, so if you feel compelled to act on something in an emotional way, you may wish to allow the transit to pass and see things with fresh eyes on the other side before making your move.  And drink plenty of pure, filtered water to help your body move excess fluid out and release.

Moon transiting the Second House: Your personal resources or finances may have a fluctuation during this transit.  Or you may take a hit or boost (it can go either way) to your self-esteem or inner sense of security.  Impulsive spending on pleasurable things to alleviate these anxieties may occur.  If it soothes you and doesn't leave you in a worse financial position, indulge yourself.  Those pleasures can be material/luxury goods, sex, food, and even some vices.  So just know this is what you are craving and why, and decided as rationally as you can what will satiate you at this time.

Moon transiting the Third House:  This transit may bring your siblings, educational environment, correspondence with others, or chores to be done about town into spotlight.  Its a pretty varied list, but these are the themes of the 3rd House and your activity in these areas may pick up or you may feel compelled to deal with them now.  If you have been putting off a call to your brother after an argument, this is a good time to re-approach, when your communication energy and interest in your siblings is at its peak.  These conversations may have an emotional cast, so be prepared for that and know that once the energy is expressed it can roll away as the Moon leaves this house.

Moon transiting the Fourth House:  You will likely want to stay home and take care of domestic matters or just rest during this transit.  It is a great period of time for taking naps, cleaning house, starting the new book lingering on your Kindle, redecorating, paying bills, and any other activities you can do from home.  The 4th house is the house of 'home and hearth" and it more importantly is the house of our inner selves - the conscious part, not the subconscious.  So there may be domestic issues with family or those that live with you that come up at this time that need your attention.

Moon transiting the Fifth House:  This can be a fun few days.  You will likely be in touch with, or feel invigorated to pursue, some romantic interests.  The 5th house represents romantic sex, play, recreational activities, creative outlets, and just plain fun.  So find someone to play with during this period, whatever play looks like for you.  This is a great time to plan a date with someone new or to pursue a fun activity with your current partner. You will feel more amorous, light-hearted, and full of bright ideas.  Allow yourself some enjoyment.

Moon transiting the Sixth House:  This house asks that you get back to work, and you are likely to see a bump in your workplace activities.  It can lead to some hiccups when dealing with co-workers as things take on a more emotional or topsy-turvy air.  Don't fret - its temporary and things will settle down in a few days.   This house also represents our health and personal wellness, and so there may be some shifts in this area during these few days. If you need rest rest.  If you need to increase your physical activity, give a go these few days.  It is a good time to start a new, healthy habit.

My personal experience with the Moon transiting my 6th house is that I consistently experience malaise, sluggishness, and am more likely to catch a cold or feel ill during these days.  It always passes once the Moon moves forward, and I also have a Pisces-ruled 6th House, so the contribution of Neptune's energy and how it makes everything it touches more permeable could very well explain the lowered immune defenses and vitality during this time.  I say all of this so that you know to look at what the energy your 6th house represents and understand its corresponding health associations to know how the Moon here will affect you.  (When I do a future article on astrology and the body systems, I will link it here.)

Moon transiting the Seventh House:

The Moon here in the house of relationships, partnerships (romantic and business0 and open enemies can be an uncomfortable few days when it comes to relationships.  You can find that your partner is very emotional or reactive at this time, or the other people express themselves to you in an emotional way.  It can also be a good time to find a quite place (or a loud one, if that's what your couple is into) and reconnect on an emotional level.
